Problem Statement & Abstract
Land disputes often begin with forged or duplicate documents. This project stores property ownership on a blockchain, where records cannot be altered silently and every transfer leaves a permanent, verifiable history.
A government registrar adds land parcels with survey number, area, location and owner. Owners can list a property for sale; a buyer sends a purchase request, the seller accepts, and the registrar verifies the documents before approving the transfer. Only then does the smart contract change the owner, and the full chain of past owners is visible to anyone checking the parcel.
Title documents are stored off-chain with only their SHA-256 hash on the blockchain, so any later change to a document is detected. Users connect with MetaMask, the React interface shows each request’s status, and a public search page lets banks or buyers verify ownership before a deal. The contracts are written in Solidity, tested with Hardhat and deployed on the Sepolia test network, so no real money is involved.
