Problem Statement & Abstract
Data analysts spend much of their time turning raw transactions into decisions. This project follows that full workflow on a realistic online-store dataset of around 100,000 orders.
Python (pandas) cleans the raw data: removing duplicates, fixing dates and currencies, standardising city and state names and flagging cancelled or returned orders. The clean data is loaded into MySQL and modelled as a star schema with a sales fact table and dimension tables for date, product, customer and region.
The Power BI report has four pages: an executive overview with revenue, orders, average order value and month-on-month growth; product performance with top and bottom sellers and category margins; customer analysis with new versus returning customers and cohort retention; and a returns page that finds products and regions with unusual return rates. Slicers, drill-downs and DAX measures make it fully interactive, and the report ends with five business recommendations backed by the data.
