Problem Statement & Abstract
Restaurants, hostels and wedding halls throw away large amounts of edible food every day while shelters nearby struggle to feed people. This Flutter app connects donors with NGOs and volunteers quickly enough for the food to be eaten.
Donors post surplus food with quantity, food type, photos and a "best before" time. Verified NGOs within a set radius are notified immediately and can claim the donation; a volunteer is then assigned for pickup and the donor sees the pickup status live. If nobody claims a donation in time, the radius widens automatically.
Every donation is tracked from posting to delivery with photos as proof, so donors get a history and impact summary (meals saved, kilograms of food rescued). Administrators verify NGOs, review reports and see city-wide statistics on a dashboard. The backend is a Django REST API with PostgreSQL and PostGIS-style distance queries, and the report includes the food-safety guidelines volunteers must follow.
