Problem Statement & Abstract
Hostel food complaints often go unheard because there is no record. This portal gives students and the mess committee a simple, organised channel.
The mess manager publishes the weekly menu for breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. After each meal students rate it from one to five stars, can leave a comment and can mark items they skipped, which helps reduce food waste. Complaints about hygiene, quantity or quality can be raised with an optional photo and are tracked until resolved.
The committee dashboard shows average ratings per meal and dish over time, the most and least liked items, open complaints and the number of students skipping each meal. Students can also suggest dishes and vote on suggestions. Built with Django and SQLite, it is lightweight enough to run on a single small server for one hostel.
