Compiled for you, not resold
Every codebase is compiled to order, configured with its own database migrations and bundled with a report written to your university’s format, so your submission never matches anyone else’s. Deliverables reach your vault within 10 to 12 working days, depending on demand and how much customisation you ask for.
Problem Statement & Abstract
Short links are used in every marketing campaign, and the system design behind them is a favourite interview question. This project builds a working URL shortener with analytics.
Users paste a long URL and get a short code, optionally choosing a custom alias and an expiry date. Each link also gets a downloadable QR code. When someone opens the short link they are redirected in milliseconds, while the click is recorded in the background with time, country, device, browser and referrer.
The analytics page shows total and unique clicks, a daily chart, top countries, devices and referrers. Redis caches popular links so redirects stay fast under load, and PostgreSQL stores links and click events. Malicious URLs are rejected using a blocklist, and rate limiting prevents abuse. The report covers short-code generation, collisions and how the design would scale to millions of links.
